BASIC FLY-FISHING COURSE
"You can learn how to fly-fish through Tyler Junior College Continuing Education in Tyler, Texas." The Basic Fly-Fishing class is an introductory course for bass, bluegill, saltwater, and trout fly-fishing. Learn how to choose and assemble a well-balanced fly-fishing outfit, including fly-rod, fly-reel, fly-line, leader and fly. Develop proven fly-fishing techniques that will help you catch fish on a fly. Practice fly-casting and find out where fly-fishing opportunities are close to home, including Tyler, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado. Learn what fish eat and how to match the hatch. Knot tying practice and demonstration plus much more will help you get started in a new and exciting outdoor sport. The class consists of a total of 12 hours of lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice.
BASIC FLY-TYING COURSE This course will introduce the students to the art of tying flies for fly-fishing. The course is designed for students with minimal or no skills in fly tying. Students will learn to tie flies for bass, bream, trout, and salt water fish. Proper techniques and systematic procedures will be developed to allow the individual to tie a multitude of flies. Students will learn to identify flies that represent different fish food. Dry flies, wet flies, nymphs, streamers and terrestrials will be introduced. Students will need to furnish fly tying tools for the class. Fly tying materials for the class will be provided. Students will develop fly tying skills as well as tie and keep more than $45 worth of flies. The class consists of 12 hours of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on.
