The Adult Learning Center
Welcome to The Adult Learning Center:
The Literacy Council of Tyler, in partnership with Tyler Junior College, offers adult basic and high school education.
The program is located on TJC’s West Campus in the Regional Training and Development Complex (Loop 323 @ West Robertson).
Adults age 21 and older are eligible to attend classes. Classes for youth (under the age of 21) are offered at Boys and Girls Club at The Castle, 325 South Broadway. In addition to the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic, preparation for the GED (General Educational Development) examination is offered. English as a Second Language (ESL) is also taught.
Classes and/or individualized instruction may be obtained during office hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.* Evening classes meet Monday through Thursday, from 6:00–8:00 p.m.* Also, there are workplace programs and outreach centers throughout Tyler and across East Texas offering the same instruction.
